Hunt Country Yarns is Bob's work in progressBob Kelly, "the guy who knits," is owner and proprietor of Hunt Country Yarns in The Plains, Virginia. Bob was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area of Northern California. He received a bachelors degree in graphic arts and a masters degree in educational technology from San Jose State University. His professional career has included teaching at the community college level, working for laser and software manufacturers as a technical writer, and retail management.
Bob learned to knit from a maternal uncle when he was ten. By the time Bob completed college he had knitted several sweaters for members of his family. Working with fibers became a driving force in his life. Bob and his wife moved to the Virginia countryside in 1997 and the store opened on the 4th of July. Hunt Country Yarns carries a wide variety of knitting, spinning, and needlepoint supplies, and offers classes year-round. (This may be the only photo of Bob known to Man. As Bob's web designer I had to sneak in the back door of the shop and snap him when he was engrossed in matching colors for a customer's email order. Next time you're visiting HCY, please tell Bob you liked his photo!) |
