Knit Along (KAL): We'll be knitting an Ombre Tunic designed by Lyn for this KAL. This top will be knit using three strands of yarn. You will have our undivided attention to your knitting throughout the duration of the class and our assistance to help to adjust this pattern to meet your requirements.

KNITTINGNEW

Knit with Multiple Strands: ever thought of color changes that you would like to do but couldn't figure out how to do. We'll show you how to add and subtract strands of yarn to effect color changes in your knitting. Color will scan across your knitting seamlessly. A cowl designed for this class will use four strands of lace weight yarn. Color changes and marling are only the beginnings.

Materials fee.

One 2-hour meeting. $35.

Knitting Shawls: There are many useful techniques to know when knitting a shawl and they're not all included in the pattern. We'll discuss and show techniques that enhance the knitting and get you started knitting a shawl of your choice. There will be several follow-up 1 hour sessions to help with your project.

KNITTING

Toe-Up Socks: Tired of knitting socks top-down? Tired of finishing the toe of your sock? Learn how to knit a sock from the toe-up. This sock uses a short -row heel and a cushioned hell pad. It's different and fun.

3.75mm (US 5) double point needles are required for this class.

One 3-hour meeting, $50.

KNITTING

Brioche Stitch I: Start knitting a scarf using an interesting stitch. This stitch creates a lightweight but lofty fabric that looks like wide ribs. You'll learn a new knitting technique and new terms but what fun and what a beautiful fabric.

One 2-hour meeting, $35.

Brioche Stitch II: Once you've mastered the brioche stitch you can start to experiment. This segment will teach you how to knit brioche with two colors of yarn. (This is the second of two classes to learn the basics.)

Swarovski Crystals: Knitting with crystals is very different than knitting with beads. The crystals add a sparkle that just can't be had with beads. Learn to knit a beautiful eyelet-patterned scarf using crystals. This is a very simple pattern, quick to knit, and we have a model of the scarf at the front counter for you to see.

CRYSTALS AND YARN MUST BE CHOSEN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO CLASS.

KNITTING:

Short Rows: You don't knit the whole row of stitches. Is that crazy? Short rows aren't just for knitting the heels of socks. Short rows can make a sweater fit better and can be used to make a beautiful scarf. Don't be afraid, short rows can be your friend.

One 2-hour meeting $35.

Oops!: Dropped stitches? Wrong stitch in the knit and purl stitch pattern? Increasing stitches when you don't mean to? Lost a yarn over when you purled back? Wrong pattern row five rows back? How to fix these problems in your knitting without pain.

KNITTING:

Top-Down Socks!: Have you ever wondered why anyone would want to knit socks? After you wear your own hand-knitted socks, you'll never want to wear store-bought again. They actually fit your feet comfortably. Socks are easy "pocket" projects that you can do when you have just a moment to knit a round. This is the perfect project for warm winter feet.

One 3-hour meeting $50.

KNITTING:

Entrelac : This is a technique that will amaze you in the final product. A look of woven strips of diagonally attached squares. This is a great way to use up odds and ends of yarn. Learn how to knit back and forth without turning your work to purl!

KNITTING:

Fair Isle Without Tears: Has fair isle knitting always stymied you? Are you afraid of the float tension making your sweater look like a seersucker suit? And, what the heck are "floats"? The knitweaving technique takes all the fear out of fair isle.

A 5mm (US 8) needles and two colors of scrap yarn (with contrast) are required.

One 2-hour meeting $35.

KNITTING:

Mittens: Never have cold fingers again. Learn how simply and quickly a pair of mittens can be knitted. Thumb-gusset got you worried? I'll show you how easy it is to knit a thumb onto a mitten. No more store-bought mittens, now your mittens can match your sweaters or socks.

3.75 & 5mm (US 5&8) needles and 200 yds of WW wool are required.

KNITTING:

Knit a Hat: wonder how circular needles work? How about double point needles? This class will introduce you to the usefulness and handiness of circular needles. Double point will also be used to finish off the top of the hat. Top knot ideas will be discussed for your first adventure into hat knitting.

Bead Knitting: Dress up any knitted project with the addition of glorious beads. This simple knitting technique adds pizzazz to your design. Learn how beads can be added to almost any of your favorite patterns.

KNITTING:

Knitting Holes: Eyelet knitting is a simple but elegant form of pattern knitting. The finished piece can be light weight and warm at the same time. No special needles required and your existing circular needles will do just fine. You'll never have more fun making holes in your knitting.

KNITTING:

Technique!: Have you ever wondered what M1 means? Maybe SKP? Learn all of the tricks for increases, decreases, selvages, cast-on and bind-off, and why they are important to do correctly. Give yourself a treat and learn what fully-fashioned knitting is all about. These are the designers' secrets.

This class coordinates with "Finishing" and should be taken first.

One 2-hour meeting $35.

Finishing! Yuck?: Okay, let's make this easy. Finishing can be done quickly and with little or no effort. Learn how to correctly finish a sweater plus some tricks that will make your sweater a hit wherever you wear it. No more unfinished projects left lying around. (Bring in your UFOs if you wish.)

This class coordinates with "Technique!" and should be taken after "Technique!"

Introduction to Knitting: Just the basics. This three-hour course covers all of the things that you need to know so that you can start knitting scarves or hats. It really is as simple as it sounds. After this you will be ready to knit a simple sweater by taking our Beginning Knitting class next

KNITTING:

Mobius Cowl: Learn to knit a delicate lacy cowl without any sewing. An interesting cast-on creates a mobius—knitting from the center out and both edges at the same time! Add some beads and you have a spectacular fashion accessory. This has been a very popular class. Sign-up early. These make great birthday or Christmas gifts.

One 2-hour meeting $35. Materials fee , 40" 5.5mm needle required for lace weight yarn.

SIT & KNIT: It's just too hot! Staying at home for the 4th of July? Come sit at the shop and relax with your knitting project. We can help you start you new project and solve problems. Just sitting and talking to fellow knitters is a great way to start new friendships and build confidence. Drop in at your convenience.

Christmas Ornament : Learn to knit a beaded Christmas ornament. If you wondered how to knit on double point needles and work with beads, this is the class for you: a quick and easy project that will make a delightful gift or keep it for your tree. Class includes the Ornamental Knits "Beaded Spiral" ornament (on display in the store).

SPINNING:

Beginning Spinning: Learn how to spin your own yarns. There is nothing more satisfying than spinning the yarn you use to knit, crochet or weave. You'll start with a drop spindle and then you're onto the spinning wheel. It's a whole new dimension in working with fibers.

 


One 2-hour meeting $60.
