PRIVATE KNITTING CLASSES

All classes can be requested as a private group class. Minimum number of students required is three. We will try to accommodate the requested date and time. If there is an existing class that day the class will be held after the scheduled class.

KNITTING

Ripples: Create beautiful fabrics with zigzag patterns. Get the "Italian Designer" look by using these patterns with color changes. These stitch patterns can be used for sweaters, scarves, and shawls. For throws you'll get a designer, look with little cost, using leftover yarns.

One 2-hour meeting, $35.

KNITTING

Mobius: Learn to knit a delicate lacy cowl without any sewing. An interesting cast-on creates a Mobius – knitting from the center out and both edges at the same time! Add some beads and you have a spectacular fashion accessory. These make great gifts and are fast to knit.

Small materials fee, 40" 5.5mm (US9) needle required. If you choose to use loose beads, they must be loaded on yarn before class starts.

KNITTING

Design a Hat: Wonder how circular needles work? How about double pointed needles? This class introduces you to the usefulness and handiness of circular needles Double point will also be used to finish off the tip of the hat. Tip knot ideas will be discussed for your first adventure into hat knitting. This class assumes that you know how to knit but have been using straight needles. Worsted weight or heaver yarn will be required.

One 2-hour meeting, $35.

KNITTING

Toe-Up Socks: Tired of knitting socks top-down? Tired of finishing the toe of your sock? Learn how to knit a sock from the toe-up. This sock uses a short -row heel and a cushioned heel pad plus you can knit a longer top with no worry of running out of yarn. It's different and fun.

3.75mm (US 5) double point needles are required for this class.

One 3-hour meeting, $50.

KNITTING

Swarovski Crystals: Knitting with crystals is very different than knitting with beads. The crystals add a sparkle that just can't be had with beads. Learn to knit a beautiful eyelet-patterned scarf using crystals. This is a very simple pattern, quick to knit, and we have a model of the scarf at the front counter for you to see.

CRYSTALS AND YARN MUST BE CHOSEN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO CLASS.

KNITTING:

Twisted Knitting: Cables have you in a twist? Afraid of attempting the charts? Well, this is the class for you. The mystery of cables will be explained plus how to read the charts without pulling out your hair. Knitting a knot is easy and aran sweaters will be in your future. Cable needles are required for this class.

KNITTING:

Oops!: Dropped stitches? Wrong stitch in the knit and purl stitch pattern? Increasing stitches when you don't mean to? Lost a yarn-over when you purled back? Wrong pattern row five rows back? How to fix these problems in your knitting with much less pain and tears. No reason to ravel all the way back when a "life-line" will do the trick. We'll take the pain out of knitting mistakes.

KNITTING:

Top-Down Socks!: Have you ever wondered why anyone would want to knit socks? After you wear your own hand-knitted socks, you'll never want to wear store-bought again. They actually fit your feet comfortably. Socks are easy "pocket" projects that you can do when you have just a moment to knit a round. This is the perfect project for warm winter feet.

One 3-hour meeting $50.

KNITTING:

Mittens: Get a head start on winter and never have cold fingers again. Learn how simply and quickly a pair of mittens can be knitted. Thumb gusset got you worried? Learn how easy it is to knit a thumb onto a mitten. No more store-bought mittens; now your mittens can match your sweaters or socks. This class is just what you need, and mittens make a great gift.

3.75 & 5mm (US 5&8) needles and 200 yds of WW wool are required.

KNITTING:

Technique!: Have you ever wondered what M1 means? Maybe SKP? Learn all of the tricks for increases, decreases, selvages, cast-on and bind-off, and why they are important to do correctly. Give yourself a treat and learn what fully-fashioned knitting is all about. These are the designers' secrets.

This class coordinates with "Finishing" and should be taken first.

One 2-hour meeting $35.

KNITTING:

Finishing! Yuck?: Okay, let's make this easy. Finishing can be done quickly and with little or no effort. Learn how to correctly finish a sweater plus some tricks that will make your sweater a hit wherever you wear it. No more unfinished projects left lying around. (Bring in your UFOs if you wish.)

This class coordinates with "Technique!" and should be taken after "Technique!"

KNITTING:

Introduction to Knitting: Just the basics. This three-hour course covers all of the things that you need to know so that you can start knitting scarves or hats. It really is as simple as it sounds. After this you will be ready to knit a simple scarf or hat pattern.

KNITTING:

Cast-on(s): Did you know there are more than two ways of casting on stitches? Do you "drill for stitches' when you knit our first row, twisting the needle to get it into the cast-on stitch to knit it? Time to get out of the rut and learn different ways of casting on that just might make the starting edge of your knitting look professional, not to mention easier to knit and without and pucker.

SPINNING:

Beginning Spinning: Learn how to spin your own yarns. There is nothing more satisfying than spinning the yarn you use to knit, crochet or weave. You'll start with a drop spindle and then you're onto the spinning wheel. It's a whole new dimension in working with fibers.
